I have updated our Web album (to the left) with photos taken by myself, Scott Luke and Dennis Wilson of the display. I thought it was our finest display yet and very impressive for an organization that is only two years old. Thank you so much to the members who dedicated their time to the event, whether it was answering questions, taking photos, demonstrating techniques or just stopping by the booth to say hello. According to Lauritzen, 15,000 passed through the doors and based on the constant crowds surrounding our display, a good numer of those stopped to see our display. It was interesting to witness so many who were exposed to the art of bonsai for the first time.
There are many good stories from the event and please respond to this thread if you have anything to share. I'm thinking it may be fun to have some awards at next year's shows. In the meantime, I think we can all agree on this one from this show:
Best Tree - Moss Ball (Bryophyta v.) - Scott Luke
Seriously!, I loved that :) How old is that moss ball? :)
Please join us this Saturday, October 15th at Mulhalls in Omaha for our open forum and workshop for beginners. We hope to have a good number of beginners on hand to discuss your level of interest in bonsai and what we can do as an organization to assist you with next steps. Everyone is encouraged to bring at least one tree, regardless of its stage of development or health. See you this weekend!
